ENGLEWOOD,
Colo. —
Denver Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker was named AFC
Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, the NFL informed
the Broncos on Wednesday.
Decker caught eight passes for 174 yards (21.8 avg.) and a franchise-record four touchdowns in Denver’s 35-28 win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. His three second-half scores helped the Broncos overcome an early 14-point deficit to capture their 10th consecutive win in divisional play.
His four receiving touchdowns equaled the most by a player in the NFL this season (Bengals wide receiver Marvin Jones vs. NYJ, 10/27/13) and represented the highest total in a road game in more than six years (Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss at Buf., 11/18/07). Decker’s performance also marked just the 12 time in NFL history a player has totaled at least 170 receiving yards and four touchdowns in a single game.
Decker’s accomplishment represents the fourth Offensive Player of the Week recognition for a Bronco this season (Peyton Manning, Weeks 1 & 3; Demaryius Thomas, Week 10) and the 52nd in team history since the award was initiated in 1984.
