Broncos' Ware: I think Peyton Manning will be back in 2015

(10:36 am ET) +Denver Broncos defensive end DeMarcus Ware is confident quarterback Peyton Manning will choose to continue his NFL career in 2015, according to +Lindsay H. Jones of +USA TODAY Sports.
"Me and Peyton will always talk back and forth about things. Now he's just looking forward to the next season and how we can get better," Ware said Thursday. "I think he'll be back. I feel like he still has a couple years in him."Manning, who will turn 39 years old on March 24, was noncommittal about his future following Sunday's playoff loss against the Colts.
"He just needs time to get healthy, rest," Ware said. "Calm the brain down. Turn it off a little bit and then hit the restart button once it's time."

Broncos Pro Bowl Pass-Rushing Tandem are more Alike than they knew

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Denver Broncos pass-rushers DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller are a lot alike. Both collect lots of sacks, hefty paychecks and plenty of accolades. The two are also on the comeback trail after offseason surgeries following a disappointing season.

Ware had his right elbow repaired in February, a few weeks before the Dallas Cowboys released him in a salary cap move after the worst season of the star pass-rusher's career.
Ware amassed a franchise-best 117 sacks for the Cowboys since getting drafted in the first round in 2005, but he got to the quarterback a career-low six times last season and missed games for the first time in his nine-year career with a thigh injury.
He was due to count $16 million against the Cowboys' cap, and when negotiations on a reduced salary failed, he was released. He quickly signed a three-year, $30 million deal in Denver, where he'll play alongside Miller, a native of Dallas who modeled his game after Ware's and who's trying to bounce back from a rough year himself.
Ware amassed a franchise-best 117 sacks for the Cowboys since getting drafted in the first round in 2005, but he got to the quarterback a career-low six times last season and missed games for the first time in his nine-year career with a thigh injury.
He was due to count $16 million against the Cowboys' cap, and when negotiations on a reduced salary failed, he was released. He quickly signed a three-year, $30 million deal in Denver, where he'll play alongside Miller, a native of Dallas who modeled his game after Ware's and who's trying to bounce back from a rough year himself.
Miller's season began with a six-game drug suspension and ended with a torn right ACL on Dec. 22. He finished with a career-low five sacks after collecting 30 in his first two seasons combined.
If both men can regain their health and their previous form, the Broncos should have one of the +NFL's top tandems to go with that prolific offense that carried them to the Super Bowl last year before they got destroyed 43-8 by +Seattle Seahawks.
For now, Denver's new tandem is teaming up in the weight room during organized offseason workouts, critiquing each other's moves and dreaming of pestering passers this fall.
"I'm excited about it," Ware said. "You can't double-team both of us, especially with the big guys in the middle (Terrance Knighton, Kevin Vickerson, Derek Wolfe and Sylvester Williams). Those guys are going to be holding it down, getting the pressure in the middle of the pocket."
Ware said he's not yet back to 100 percent — No. 94 said he's at "about 94 percent" — but that didn't prevent him from getting right to work with his new pass-rushing partner when the team's voluntary offseason conditioning program began this week.
He and Miller did some "ball-throws, abs and a little bit of biceps and triceps" in the weight room and watched tape together in the film room, Ware said.
"Some of the moves that he was doing on tape were some of the moves that I have been doing," Ware said. "I was critiquing him, he was critiquing me and it's just a good thing to know that there are guys out there that look up to you. Now I have an opportunity to shed some advice onto him. He is a great player and I look forward to playing with him this season."
Miller can't wait to play alongside the man he emulated on the football field while growing up in Dallas and attending +Texas A&M University.
"It's incredible. I was a huge +Dallas Cowboys fan," Miller said. "I patterned my game after him. I always said to myself, 'Man, I hope I get to play with DeMarcus one of these days.' You know, it's here. So, it's a true blessing. I think it'll be great."
Miller won't venture a guess, however, as to how many sacks the duo could muster in 2014.
"I don't even want to think about that," Miller said. "I just want to go out there and grind as hard as we can. If we do that, Broncos fans, the Broncos organization, everybody will be pleased with what we do."
He also isn't stressing over his financial future.
The Broncos have until May 3 to exercise a fifth-year option on Miller's rookie deal that would put him under contract for 2015 at $9.754 million. They could decline that option and still keep him in 2015 by placing the franchise tag on him at a slightly higher cost.
"That's why I've got an agent, so I can just focus on football," said Miller, who will make $3.24 million this season. "I know if I just go out there and do everything I'm supposed to do, everything will work out all right."

How the Broncos Fared with Free Agency Additions, NFL New Year, 2014

In the it-seems-like-a-lot-longer department, NFL free agency will have been open for about a month by the time Wednesday afternoon rolls around.
And for the +Denver Broncos those six days were filled with plenty of negotiations and some big checks. As Broncos’ executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway has put it, it was all in the name of filling “glaring needs’’ on the roster. The idea, Elway said, is to have enough salary cap space to participate in free agency if you wish, limit the dead money (salary cap charges for players no longer with the team) and position the Broncos to look at the draft board in May and select the best players available with each pick instead those who are needed the most.

What did he sign for? Four years, $22.5 million, $5 million to sign
He had 112 tackles last season in that role and will bring some toughness into the team’s secondary. The Broncos do prefer their safeties to be interchangeable if possible and able to line up as strong safeties in some situations and play out in coverage more as free safeties at times as well.
This will be the player, the casual fan suddenly falls in love with because of his intensity, physicality, and generally, great play that they overlooked (or did not really know of him) because of the other big splash free agent signings. He has just started his prime as well. Outside of Jarius Byrd, Ward was the best available safety and probably the best run support safety in free agency. The +Denver Broncos defense was more of an aberration than most last year. They've got talent at all positions and with the type of home field they've instituted as well as the NFL's record setting offense to use to their advantage. The main focus is stopping the run so teams cannot keep them off of the field. But creating takeaways and the turnover battle was the sole negative attribute to the AFC Championship squad. The special teams are included in that category as a turnover on special teams or even an allowed return is as good as a pick 6. These plays are that evident in teams win percentage when getting one or allowing one.
What happened in the Super Bowl, they effectively turned it over 8 times in that game, by the special teams analogy mentioned above. They ranked #2 in the NFL the year before with a much healthier defense and the Broncos have as much talent, if not more on this side of the ball, when healthy. Elway did his usual thing, the first signing was a significant player, a bit unknown, but a major addition that will be a significant strength for them. Last year it was Louis Vasquez as +BRONCOS CR3W was very happy with. Similar to signing Ward. With a healthy Rahim Moore, Talib, Von Miller, Chris Harris, Pot Roast, Danny Trevathan, DeMarcus Ware, Sly Williams and co., they are a list of very stout, stellar defensive players.
Ward has $7 million guaranteed in 2014 with the potential for a $4 million guaranteed next March and a potential $2.5 million guaranteed in March of 2016.
At the moment Ward projects as the Broncos’ strong safety with Rahim Moore, former +UCLA Bruins standout, returning at free safety. Ward could also line up as a weak-side linebacker in some of the Broncos’ specialty dime (six defensive backs) and seven-defensive back looks.
Grade = A (9.5/10) (if a rating on a scale of 1 to 10 clarifies it better for some)
Talib
CB Aqib Talib
What did he sign for? Six years, $57 million, $5 million to sign.
Why him? Talib represents the Broncos’ biggest gamble in free agency. The deal is far more salary-cap friendly for the team than was initially believed when the numbers were first floated after the two sides agreed to terms.
But Talib has never played 16 games in a season. He has said the hip injury many have cited -- that’s how the +New England Patriots listed him this past season on the injury report -- was not, in fact a hip injury, but rather a thigh injury and that he’s “100 percent’’ on his arrival to the Broncos.
He has top-level speed, has matched up with some of the league’s best -- he held the Saints’ Jimmy Graham without a catch last season -- and plays with a physical edge. It’s all needed in the Broncos defense and why the Broncos moved so quickly last Tuesday night when apprised of Talib’s interest in them.
But the injury issue is there. If he can consistently stay on the field, however, it’s a win at a high-need position for Broncos. Regardless, the +Denver Broncos released franchise All-Pro CB, Champ Bailey, and were in need of placing a top CB in the +NFL on their roster. Talib offers a lot of versatility. Much like +BRONCOS CR3W have mentioned on many occasions about Chris Harris. Talib is even a little bigger and longer. Giving the Broncos a CB that can go inside and play the slot WR/TE or go on the outside.
DRC provided the Broncos with an unexpected necessity of having a top CB in the lineup with all the injuries they suffered. Albeit, the Broncos pass defense was a below average 19th in the NFL last year. Talib, not only was plucked from the +New England Patriots as mentioned but also is signed to multiple years entering his prime. Many sources confirmed the Broncos had a very similar type offer to DRC, who signed later with the +New York Giants for much less. Elway isn't about to take a 'siesta' when the NFL "New Year" begins. If DRC hadn't panned out, they could have been looking at FA CB's that are not of that caliber and/or hoping to replace that big of piece through the draft. Fortunately, Elway doesn't play 'wait and see' and landed Talib who was a big time asset for the Patriots, now wearing Orange. Patriots were fortunate to land Darrelle Revis after being released and many sang the praises of Belichick, but overreacting would be putting it nicely. Originally thought to be 1 year, it is a 2 year deal with a significant cap hit. Manu oblivious statements like, "Broncos mortgage..." their cap and future by the contracts they putting out there.
For those paying attention though, after much more research into the specifics of the contracts and the cap space they were taking a hit on or risking next year or the following year showed nothing really of the sort. They were paying Champ a similar salary and released him. Essentially just retaining that contract. Cap space increases over the last two years and what is expected to be more again next. Silly thing is that if that were the case, why didn't the Broncos overspend on Decker, D'Qwell Jackson (now an +Indianapolis Colts LB), and Zane Beadles (+UTES CR3W). Basically scaling out the losses and releases to the additions of current free agent contracts, cap space. Looking into the cap for the following few seasons and Elway emphasized this by the jump to the conclusions, breaking second news reporters that often knee jerk react instead of waiting to hear out details. Not a surprise, "Elway Effect" is becoming a common phrase by the ability to land the big name free agents and navigating the salary cap to do so.
It is the 3rd offseason 'pundits' have spoken such. Elway certainly was adamant about that and he also has no fear of being fired or let go as a GM. Elway does not rely on this to give him creed for future GM slots around the league. This IS Elway's Broncos'. It's only appropriate that the team he would spend so much time performing his job is the franchise the he himself built as a Hall of Fame QB of the Broncos. Elway isn't afraid of being fired, he is an extremely successful philanthropist, entrepreneur, and business owner. He is not concerned about that or being fired and in some way, may gives him an advantage because Elway is a "football player" at heart. He always said that to critics during his playing days. He did not think of himself as a QB, he was a football player, first and foremost.

What did he sign for? Three years, $30 million, $5 million to sign.
Ware has $16.5 million guaranteed out the gate, including his $3 million base salary in ’14, his signing bonus, another $5 million bonus and $3.5 million guaranteed in his $7 million base salary for 2015. Ware also has and additional $6.5 million worth of potential guarantees in 2015 if he’s on the roster on the fifth day of the league year.
That’s a big commitment to a player who will soon be 32 years old, but the Broncos see a player with 117 career sacks who has missed just three games in his career and who was playing at a high level until he tried to play through an injury last season. Ware had elbow surgery early in the offseason and says “I’m ready to go’’ for the Broncos.
He’s a potential every-down player for the Broncos, but they will monitor how they use him to maximize his impact. A powerful and accomplished lead-by-example guy they believe will help mentor Von Miller as well as 2013 draft pick Quanterus Smith.
Broncos CR3W will be honest, at first, this signing and the expediency of it. Ware went through his first season with nagging injuries costing him playing time and quality of play. That said, Ware is not in his mid 30 that many start to see that decline of performance unfolding. He is still 31 and has pep in his step. He is very good rushing the passer obviously but he can remain in there for rushing personnel as well. Rushing the pass was possibly the biggest variable the Broncos need to address after coming up short in Super Bowl XLVIII last season vs the +Seattle Seahawks. Von Miller tore his ACL late in the season last year. Kevin Vickerson, Derek Wolfe were on IR as well. The signing in the secondary would be reckless if they didn't address this and the addition of Ware was massive. Peyton's window is shrinking as many would say. Without a pass rush and man know, Von Miller could be the best in the league when he is at his best. Miller demands double teams often and that luxury will be much tougher with possibly the best pass rushing interior DT's in the NFL, Terrance "Pot Roast" Knighton, last year's #1 pick, Sylvester Williams, and a markedly improvement by Malik Jackson who can go outside and play DE on downs. The draft has some very deep talent and prospect pool for nearly all positions and many consider, as do we, the best draft class in 15 to 20 years. Initially, we gave this a B (8/10)
Miller's return is unknown and it could be very possible to see him need next season to get that last 5% that some with ACL repairs find missing less than a year removed from an ACL repair. Chris Harris suffered a torn ACL too, but he did not tear the MCL or PCL, so many suspect his return should be quicker an easier way to find the remaining 5% from that 100%. There's only one Adrian Peterson that comes back from 6 months removed of ACL surgery and is better than ever...
What did he sign for? 2 years, $3.45 million.

Why him? The Broncos had just two wide receivers -- Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker -- on the roster when free agency opened who had also been on the team’s 53-man roster last season.
The Broncos see a deep and speedy class of big, physical receivers on the draft board and will give a long look toward using a premium pick on one of them. But signing Caldwell, a player quarterback Peyton Manning trusts in the offense, before free agency formally opened allowed the Broncos to have some patience in the opening waves of the bidding and as they prepare for the draft.
Grade = B+ (8.9/10) *with an even higher upside to the grade*
Caldwell has made the most of his chances when he has seen the field. The fact that he was signed the same off season as Peyton Manning (signed prior to Peyton signing) lends itself to have some very high upside here. Peyton showed many times, and even in the Super Bowl that he has confidence and is not going to hesitate throwing to Caldwell. He ended up with 3 TDs for 3 starts. Filling in when Welker sat out. The familiarity is there and Caldwell knows Peyton's checks, etc. Last year, during the off-season when Peyton set up throwing and practicing with his WRs, RBs, skill players, Caldwell was not there. Baybay, Decker, and +Wes Welker were. This year, Caldwell was invited in the same offeror dialogue with Demaryius, Welker, and Julius Thomas. Caldwell is now in his 3rd year with the Broncos and really in the prime of his career at this moment. He's shown he can grab receptions in live action and we do not see why it would not be the same. Hard to argue for a select few that others' offer what Eric Decker did as a receiver.
Broncos record-setting offense would probably find Caldwell putting up some nice stat line if he saw the field as often. Maybe a bit of a stretch. Not too mention the draft as we've pointed out, is so deep at WR talent, it is hard to fathom some are going to be a late first round to even mid round selections. Just one year earlier, WR's picked well into the 2nd and 3rd rounds this year cold have been one of the first 5 WRs chosen last year. Position is pretty locked up and some potentially raw, unpolished talent in the practice squad ranks. Julius Thomas, Rod Smith are just a couple names to come from such places. After signing the speedy, just entering his prime/peak of his career and had the best season statistically of his career, the Broncos added to, fortify, having Caldwell (whose grade became an A (10/10) after Emmanuel Sanders was signed to terms.
Sanders
What did he sign for? 3 years for approximately $17 million.
The two sides had agreed to terms Sunday and he was scheduled for a physical Sunday at the team’s Dove Valley complex. The Broncos discussed plenty of receivers in the opening days of free agency and had Sanders at, or near, the top of their list, but waited for some of the dust to settle a bit.
Sanders is undersized so the Broncos will be a smaller group overall, at least until the draft, than they were with Eric Decker in the mix last season. But he has versatility in that he can play, with production, both the outside and slot positions.
He does drop some passes at times, but he gives the Broncos more speed on the depth chart with the ability to play all over the formation.
Grade = A- (9/10)
There is no denying that the +Chicago Bears, +New England Patriots, +Tampa Bay Buccaneers amongst others did well in free agency, but it is very difficult to dispute the +Denver Broncos did not address their needs and depth via free agency for what it is already a loaded roster. As we always say at +BRONCOS CR3W, "Time will Tell..."

DeMarcus Ware gives new Denver Broncos teammate Von Miller Career Advice

It has been less than a month since DeMarcus Ware has joined the +Denver Broncos, and yet it has more than sunk in that he's playing for a new team after nine years with the +Dallas Cowboys, even if it seemed for a long time that the Cowboys would be the only team he'd ever know in the +NFL.
Ware told Shutdown Corner by phone on Friday that despite reports that the Cowboys tried to make a late push to keep him in Dallas, it really was past the point of no return by then.
"I did everything in my power [to stay]," Ware said. Obviously, it was not [as close] as some made it seem.
"I am just glad that Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells gave me an opportunity to play, and it was nine years with the +Dallas Cowboys. Dallas is always going to be home. But now it’s onto the next challenge in Denver."
Ware leaves Dallas, he says, will no ill will and only good feelings. He knows he'll return at some point and remember the best of his time there.
"[Dallas is] always going to be my NFL home," he said. "But at the end of the day, you have to make business decisions and you have to take the most ethical approach to prolonging your career. For Denver, that’s what it was. I now have a great opportunity to play with a great team, and life is all about transition, so this is the next chapter for me."
Picking a team happened rather quickly for Ware, even though he had more than a dozen teams inquire about his availability. After making his first and only free-agent visit to the Broncos, he signed for three years, $30 million with $20 million guaranteed. Ware said money played a factor in his decision but that joining a proven team was the biggest thing.
"I think the money part wasn’t the biggest factor to me, but it did play a part, of course," Ware said. "But the main thing is playing for a great team. That’s what makes you want to go someplace. That played the biggest role."
Ware and Miller have yet to talk, but they have gone back and forth with texting since they became teammates a few weeks back.
"I can't wait to work with him," Ware said. "He's a special talent."
But Miller also has had quite a few obstacles in his early career, including a few traffic-related run-ins, a six-game suspension prior to last season and a torn ACL he suffered in December. There are some who have worried that Miller, who just turned 25 in March, might be getting off track after such an amazing start to his career on the field.
Miller finds himself in a place where Ware once was years ago: a young, gifted pass rusher just waiting to cash in after a few years in the league. When asked what advice he would — or will — give Miller, Ware preached consistency in his life.
"I think the biggest thing with him is to be consistent," Ware said. "You have to find something stable in your life, someone you can look up to. Whoever that is, or whatever you hope to do, make sure you put that number one and let that drive you. If it’s family, if it’s a teammate, you can find that passion and strive for it."
Ware said he hoped to be a big-brotherly type for Miller and a sounding board whenever he needed to discuss anything — football, family, other aspects of life.
"I can fill that [role] if he wants it," Ware said, "but he's a grown man, too."

Ware took time out of his schedule this weekend, which included attending a four-day financial bootcamp of sorts at the +NFL's Business Management & Entrepreneurial Program, to talk about that chapter in Denver. Some believe that Ware and Von Miller can form the nucleus of a tremendous defense for the +Denver Broncos, who went 13-3 last season and made the Super Bowl, but were blown out by the +Seattle Seahawks.
Ware and Miller have yet to talk, but they have gone back and forth with texting since they became teammates a few weeks back.
"I can't wait to work with him," Ware said. "He's a special talent."
But Miller also has had quite a few obstacles in his early career, including a few traffic-related run-ins, a six-game suspension prior to last season and a torn ACL he suffered in December. There are some who have worried that Miller, who just turned 25 in March, might be getting off track after such an amazing start to his career on the field.
Miller finds himself in a place where Ware once was years ago: a young, gifted pass rusher just waiting to cash in after a few years in the league. When asked what advice he would — or will — give Miller, Ware preached consistency in his life.
"I think the biggest thing with him is to be consistent," Ware said. "You have to find something stable in your life, someone you can look up to. Whoever that is, or whatever you hope to do, make sure you put that number one and let that drive you. If it’s family, if it’s a teammate, you can find that passion and strive for it."
Ware said he hoped to be a big-brotherly type for Miller and a sounding board whenever he needed to discuss anything — football, family, other aspects of life.
"I can fill that [role] if he wants it," Ware said, "but he's a grown man, too."

Von Miller Eager to Rush the QB with Mentor
DENVER - Von Miller used to text, call and visit his mentor for pointers on pass rushing.
Now, his teacher is his newest teammate.
Yeah, it’s safe to say the +Denver Broncos hybrid linebacker is a big fan of bringing DeMarcus Ware on board.
After all, Miller’s own pass rush moves are inspired by watching Ware terrorize quarterbacks for the +Dallas Cowboys, where he had a franchise-record 117 sacks before being released.
He can’t wait to listen to Ware’s suggestions on the field rather than over the phone.
Well, once Miller’s ACL is back to full strength. Von Miller out for season with torn ACL. Miller is currently working out in a pool, but hopes to soon be cleared for some light jogging and bike work.
Then, it’s back to learning under Ware.
“This is great, seeing a guy that I molded my game after,” Miller said Saturday as he took part in a program through his foundation to help identify kids in need of eye care. “Just to be able to pick his brain or how he gets ready for games, how he practices, how he stays consistent - this is big.”
The Broncos have been on quite a defensive spending spree in free agency, bringing in the 31-year-old Ware, cornerback Aqib Talib and safety T.J. Ward at a cost of $110 million ($60 million guaranteed).
Of course, being on that side of the ball, Miller gave the moves a whole-hearted endorsement. It’s also not a shock the Broncos are concentrating on defense after a 43-8 loss to Seattle in the Super Bowl. Broncos send piece of History to Seattle.
“We had great guys before, but the guys we have now are big-time players,” said Miller, who turns 25 on March 26. “This is a huge upgrade. We have guys coming off injuries and when you get a guy like Talib and Ward and Ware, it will solidify the whole defense.”
Miller is coming off a rough season, one in which began with a six-game drug suspension and ended with a torn ACL on Dec. 22. Ware believes he can help get the 2011 rookie of the year on track. They already have a strong bond
“When Von first came in, before he got drafted, I talked to him a little bit,” Ware said. “Being able now to have the opportunity to play with him is a whole different thing. I’ll be in the same locker room with him, being able to teach him some things. I’m looking forward to that opportunity. I just think that it’s going to be great.”
Miller couldn't agree more. He grew up a Cowboys follower and one of his favorite players was Ware.
“Seeing Demarcus‘ whole stance - I got that from him. I got all that from him,” said Miller, who played at Texas A&M; “He is one of the best pass rushers in the league. … I think having him in the locker room will be great.”
When Miller first joined the Broncos, he thrived with Elvis Dumervil playing on the opposite side. Miller had 11½ sacks his rookie season and 18½ in 2012, before Dumervil bolted for Baltimore in 2013.
In Dumervil’s place, the Broncos turned to Shaun Phillips, who had 10 sacks. Miller struggled at times once he returned from suspension and had five sacks before suffering his ACL injury at Houston.
His temptation is to hurry back, but he’s taking things slow.
“I’m doing fine. I am doing great. It feels better every day,” Miller said. “I feel confident and that I will be ready to go.”
Any timetable for a return?
“It’s tricky because you feel great some days and you want to do more than what you’re really supposed to be doing,” he said. “Right now, I am ahead of where I am supposed to be.”
It may have crossed some minds knowing the Terrance "Pot Roast" Knighton already wears #94. Is Ware going to wear a different number or?

EVP of Football Ops/GM John Elway discussed the three newest Broncos and how the team stands in regards to the salary cap on 850 KOA.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Broncos were active during the first 24 hours of free agency, to say the least.
Adding defensive end DeMarcus Ware, cornerback Aqib Talib and safety T.J. Ward will, as Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway put it on The Dave Logan Show on 850 KOA, "help us tremendously on the defensive side."
But the big-name signings have led some to believe that the Broncos have put themselves in an "all-in" mode for the present while disregarding the future.
Elway made sure to dispel those concerns.

I’ve always said that everyone keeps talking about, ‘Well, you’re doing this to win now.’ I say, ‘No, we’re doing this to win now on.’ That’s what we’re doing. We’re not mortgaging our future. We had some cap room this year and we had some cash available and we’re able to get in the bidding for these top free agents."

Broncos "Confident" to be the Landing place for DeMarcus Ware, Strong position for Jared Allen but Ware is First Choice!
+Denver Broncos Just Keeping Making Headlines in Free Agency! Two sides of being a title contender, success equals losing talent that has flourished under the Broncos watch, and you get great All-Pro vets that want to play for a title contender. +BRONCOS CR3W members everywhere did not expect this big of a splash in first 12 hours of 2014 free agency. Ware and Allen have not been confirmed with certainty as of yet though. Bonus riddled contracts (incentives) is many ways these veteran contracts are set up. Much like Shaun Phillips.

Did you think John Elway was done in free agency when he went out and beefed up his secondary by landing safety T.J. Ward on a steal of a deal and then later handing a massive contract to Aqib Talib? If you did, you were probably wrong. Elway's also chasing former +Dallas Cowboys defensive end, DeMarcus Ware.
In many +NFL corners, many regarded Aqib Talib the top CB in free agency or it was the former +Denver Broncos CB, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Broncos made big noise by adding safety T.J. Ward very early on in free agency.
+BRONCOS CR3W envisioned DRC resigning after the Broncos cut long-time vet and future HOF'er Champ Bailey. Speculating simply. Elway and the Broncos pushed hard for DRC and Talib, and Talib was the first to take the deal apparently as the Broncos withdrew offer from DRC once Talib had contract officially signed.
Ware, the Dallas all-time sack leader, was released by the Cowboys on Tuesday afternoon. And the Broncos, who Ware is visiting on Wednesday, are reportedly "confident" about landing him.

His price was simply too prohibitive for Dallas.
Denver makes all the sense in the world. They were initially in on Jared Allen as well, though ultimately started moving their interest towards Ware later in the evening Tuesday.
The Broncos need to beef up their pass rush, can use plenty of bodies up front and Ware would make an impact on their defense. He'd probably be willing to work fairly cheap, too, and has experience both in the 4-3 and 3-4.
